A personal hardware project

A quieter way to see what matters next.

Desk Display is a private, battery-powered e-paper dashboard built for its owner. It brings upcoming calendar events and planning information into one calm, glanceable screen.

Personal project · Limited access

01

Read only

Desk Display requests read-only access to selected Google calendars. It cannot create, edit, or delete calendar events.

02

Local by design

Calendar information is retrieved directly by the owner’s physical display. There is no application server collecting or reselling calendar data.

03

Purpose limited

Google Calendar data is used only to show the owner’s next scheduled events on the e-paper screen.

Google Calendar access

Why the app requests calendar data

The display reads the calendar list so its owner can choose specific calendars. It then reads event titles, start and end times, cancellation status, and the owner’s invitation response for those selected calendars.

That information is filtered to a short upcoming window and used only for the Up Next area of the display. All-day, cancelled, and declined events are excluded from the visible list.

Access is granted explicitly through Google’s OAuth consent screen and can be revoked at any time from the owner’s Google Account.
