Desk Display

Privacy Policy

Effective September 17, 2026

Overview

Desk Display is a private e-paper dashboard operated as a personal project by Built by Jer. It uses read-only Google Calendar access solely to show upcoming events to the person who authorized that access.

This public website provides information about the project. It does not accept Google sign-in, receive Google Calendar data, use advertising, or run analytics.

Google data the app accesses

After the owner grants permission, Desk Display may access:

  • Calendar names, identifiers, and access roles used to select calendars.
  • Event identifiers, titles, start and end times, cancellation status, and the authorizing user’s invitation-response status.

The app requests read-only Calendar scopes. It does not create, modify, or delete calendars or events.

How Google data is used

Google Calendar data is used only to select authorized calendars and display a short list of upcoming events on the owner’s physical e-paper screen. It is not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or training generalized artificial-intelligence models.

Storage and security

OAuth refresh credentials are stored in the owner’s macOS Keychain during setup and in nonvolatile storage on the owner’s physical display after local provisioning. Short-lived access tokens are held only in device memory while requests are made.

The display keeps a bounded last-successful event snapshot in its own flash storage so it can preserve useful information during a temporary network failure. Calendar information is not sent to or stored on an application backend operated by Built by Jer.

Sharing and sale

Google user data is not sold. It is not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties. Data is exchanged only with Google’s APIs at the authorizing user’s request and processed locally on equipment controlled by that user.

Retention and deletion

Locally stored credentials and cached events remain until they are replaced, the device is reset, or access is revoked. The owner can revoke the app’s Google access from Google Account security settings and can erase the device’s saved configuration. Revocation prevents future Calendar retrieval.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Desk Display’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Website hosting

This informational website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process ordinary web-request information under its own policies. The website itself does not receive or process the Calendar information described above.

Changes and contact

This policy will be updated if the project’s handling of Google user data changes. Questions or privacy requests can be submitted through the project’s public support tracker. Do not include private calendar information or credentials in a support request.
